May!

What an eventful month May has been!
I had a show in Oshawa before heading back to Ottawa, it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it.
Finally the warm weather has arrived. I got to go on a lot of walks in my neighbourhood. However, my pollen allergies were really bad and I had to do a lot to prevent it from affecting my vocals.
We celebrated my grandpa’s 85th birthday on Victoria Day long weekend with my mom, dad, aunt and my grandma. We went to a really nice French restaurant in Hull, this is one of his favourites. I had spinach noodle salad with roasted pork and tiger shrimps. It was delicious. For dessert, I had the best chocolate pecan pie ever! Sunday, we celebrated again, this time at our house. The weather was so good that we were able to sit outside in our screen room and enjoy the day.
After a month and a half wearing the cast, I went to see an Orthopaedic surgeon. He gave me two injections in my left foot and told me that I didn’t need to wear the cast anymore. I am so happy to be freed from it. I am not 100% healed, but almost there.
Unfortunately, we had a big loss during this month. My best friend Emily’s mother, Linda, passed away. It was a real shock and very hard for me to believe and accept it. I was very close to her mom. She was very nice with a warm, kind and caring heart, good listener, supportive of everyone and was always there when needed. When my self-titled rock EP was released, Linda drove all the way to my house to congratulate me and was the first person to purchase it. It meant a lot to me. She always supported my passion in music. I remember, at Emily’s baby shower, Linda gave me two beautiful shinny silver bracelets to wear on the stage. She said how I needed some bling bling. It was so nice and thoughtful of her. She was a great mother and a best friend to her daughter Emily. I have so many wonderful memories with her, which will never be forgotten. She will be missed.
While in Ottawa, seeing friends and family, I did work on my music. I had a great songwriting session on Skype with a songwriter I am co-writing with from Vancouver. Loved how all our songs turned out. On May 27th, I had a fantastic time performing for Young Challengers – Autism. They were so sweet, singing along with me. It was great fun! They were really nice and fun to talk to. They loved music and I really enjoyed it.
I invited my best friend over with her son and husband for a nice Iranian dinner. My dad made rice and barbecued kabobs and tomatoes for everyone. For dessert, we had my homemade chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cake. We also had some Persian sweets. It was such a lovely evening.
I will be heading back to Toronto in June for more shows and recording.
